ISTE 2015 Machinima Fest Submissions Now Open!

The ISTE 2015 Machinima Fest is now open!

To encourage the production of Machinima and the growth of a community of educators, researchers, and students who produce Machinima, ISTE Games & Simulations Network and the Virtual Environment Network will be holding a Machinima Fest and viewing on June 29 during the 2015 conference. Submission can be made by an individual or group.

The 2015 Theme for the Machinima Fest is “Revolutionary”.  Your Machinima submission can relate to this theme directly, indirectly, artistically or literally.  From classical revolutionary in terms of armed conflict to a fundamental change or simply relating to a circular motion, the Machinima artist can interpret within the categories provided.

Machinima produced by educators, researchers, students and the community will be accepted in the categories listed below.

Machinima Submission Categories

Please choose the category that best fits your submission.

Digital Life – tell us a story using digital media
LPs or Let’s Play – show us gameplay and your narration of it
Tutorials – show us how to do something
Twisted Tales – give a fairy tale a twist
Curriculum/Content Focus – objective is teaching or training
Mixed Media – at least 50% immersive environment or game
Livestream/Livecast – livestream recording
Fan Fiction – extend what the author did
Themed: Revolutionary – show us what you think is revolutionary
Recycled – make a derivative work and show us what you did
Channel: show us your Machinima or livestream channel

Machinima Format

In a Flash – This format is for individual videos that are 3 minutes or less in length

No Time Limit – This format is for individual videos that are longer than 3 minutes in length

Channel – This format is for all submissions that are either YouTube, Vimeo, or any other channels or collections.

Livestream – This format is for all submissions of Twitch.tv or another other live feed platform.

Division

K-4 ( ages 5 – 9)
5- 8 (ages 10 -13)
9-12 (ages 14-17

college or university student- This is for all submissions that were created by an individual who is currently enrolled at a higher education institution.

educator – This is for all submissions that were created by an individual who teaches at an educational institution.

community – This is a catch weight division for all submissions that were created by a member of the community who is an adult.

Best in Category Awards

These awards will be given to the best in category. Depending on the panel, these may or may be divided into divisions.

Judges Awards

These are awards that our panel of judges award to exemplar submissions. These are based on the judges evaluation and are not always awarded each year.

People’s Choice Awards

Voting will be open to the public during the week prior to the Machinima Fest. The public will be able to vote on their favorite Machinima based in each of the six divisions.
